A Legend Born from Fire: The "Accidentally" Extra-Aged Treasure

The story of Chairman’s Reserve Forgotten Casks is one of the most famous tales in the rum world. On May 2nd, 2007, a devastating fire tore through St. Lucia Distillers, destroying a significant portion of their administration and storage facilities. In the chaotic aftermath, the cellar master was forced to find "unconventional" storage locations for various casks throughout the distillery grounds.

Years later, several parcels of these casks were rediscovered. Having sat undisturbed for longer than originally intended, the rum had matured into something far more complex, dark, and "sublime" than the standard Chairman's blend. What began as a disaster resulted in a rum of incredible depth, leading the distillery to recreate this "extra-aged" style permanently. Today, Forgotten Casks is a sophisticated blend of Coffey and Pot still rums, aged between 6 to 11 years, designed to mimic those original lost barrels.
