Arran 10 Year Old Arran Barley Whisky 70cl

Arran 10 Year Old Arran Barley | First Edition Local Barley Series

A Unique Terroir-Driven Single Malt Showcasing Island-Grown Optic Barley

Arran 10 Year Old Arran Barley marks the prestigious first edition of the distillery’s Local Barley series. This annual collection is designed to celebrate the fundamental relationship between the land and the spirit, showcasing how different barley varieties and specific farm locations influence the final character of the whisky.

For this inaugural release, the distillery sourced Optic barley grown at Bellevue Farm on the Isle of Arran by the Currie family. By keeping the entire process local—from the fields to the stills—this expression offers a true taste of the island's terroir. To ensure the grain’s character remains the focal point, the whisky has been matured in a combination of first-fill bourbon barrels and second-fill sherry hogsheads, mirroring the proportions of the classic Arran 10 Year Old but with a distinct, grain-forward twist.

Tasting Notes & Profile

Nose: Vibrant and fresh, leading with aromas of freshly cut herbs and bright citrus zest. Subtle notes of aniseed and a light floral sweetness develop as the whisky opens in the glass.

Palate: The palate is rich and characteristically "Arran." It features the creamy texture of buttery shortbread and toasted grains, balanced by a zesty spice profile of ginger and cracked black pepper.

Finish: Clean and lingering. It leaves a refreshing trail of citrus peel and a gentle, warming malty sweetness that highlights the quality of the Optic barley.
