50ml Hayman’s Old Tom Gin
15ml Sweet (Rosso) Vermouth
15ml Dry Vermouth
5ml Maraschino Cherry Liqueur
1 dash Angostura Bitters
1 dash Orange Bitters
1. Chill a martini glass.
2. Stir all the ingredients in a mixing glass or tin.
3. Strain into the chilled martini glass.
4. Garnish with a twist of orange peel or a Maraschino cherry.
Make the Martinez your own with a home-made cherry garnish. Wash fresh cherries, place in a sealable jar, cover in Maraschino cherry liqueur and put in the fridge. In less than a week you’ll have wonderfully unctuous, soft cherries to sit atop top your classic Martinez.
